NoTail Missing black cat without a tail, lost pet, lost cat

10/01/04 Friday
My brother came to visit from Germany for 2 weeks. Participated in a Cancer Event, Relay for Life in the desert. Called SGVT and LA Times to renew the ad like every Friday.

10/02/04 Saturday
Cyril said he went to the shelter. Cathryn Olson, animal communicator, left a message, she is in NY and won't be back for a while. She will contact me when she returns, requested a photo of NoTail and a map where he got lost. (She never contacted me.)

10/05/04 Tuesday
Called Animal Control Glendora to remind them of NoTail. They still have my flier. They are also looking for another cat without a tail that someone lost.
Animal Control Baldwin Park, Officer David Nelson helped out to look up impound numbers. No matches.

10/08/04 Friday
Dropped new battery pack off for the remote camera. Cyril's new cat Sultan chewed through it and he had to fix it. Don't know if he ever brought it to Gloria's and set it up. He never called me again. (He never did take it to Gloria as promised).

10/11/04 Monday
On the way to Las Vegas a girl called me from Covina, living at Grand and Badillo. She asked if I found NoTail. I said no and then we were disconnected. I wondered....

10/13/04 Wednesday
Marc called me from LA that his friend Susan in Montebello had a black cat wander in without a tail a few months ago. He saw my ad or she saw it and she wanted him to call me and find out if this is NoTail. He looked at the website as he called and I finally asked him if the cat has a stub. And yes, it does, it also is really friendly and sits on his lap every time he visits. I knew anyway. But was surprised to get this call. The ads work a bit. Also called the number of the girl from Covina. She was not there but her friend said that she was just very concerned about NoTail and wanted to know.

10/15/04 Friday
I left another message for Marc today. No call back for confirmation. Called SGVT and LA Times to renew the ads.

10/16/04 Saturday
Walked in the park, all the areas where I searched. Drove through the area, thought I saw a tailless cat off Grand north of Badillo, turned back but there was nothing. The huge storm drain gate at the west end of the park was propped open somewhat with a stone to roll under, scary place.

10/17/04 Sunday
It rained last night and then it rained some more today. Will that flush out his mangled little body from wherever he died? Will someone see it and call me? Will I find his remains? I will go out and look again this week.

10/18/04 Monday
Susan called me and reported that the cat indeed had a stub. And she found the owner just a few doors down the street. So lucky they are... so lucky!

10/19/04 Tuesday
Animal Control Baldwin Park, Nelson looked up 30 or so numbers for me, no match. The huge sick lizard and the two little ones seized by Animal Control over a month ago from a very negligent owner got adopted last week and are doing well. Drove through the area where NoTail was lost, but it was raining and no cats were out.

10/20/04 Wednesday
Irene from Walnut called me for encouragement not to give up. She saw NoTail's ad.
Her German shepherd got lost during a thunderstorm on April 1, 2004. He jumped a 5 foot fence and was seen running up a street. She looked everywhere. I gave her some advice and she will go to Pomona Shelter this Saturday. I asked her to remind David and Jennifer there of NoTail as well. So sorry. Someone very mean called her and told her that he ate her dog and that she doesn't need to look anymore.

10/22/04 Friday
Drove the area for four hours tonight, saw many cats, only two of the three kittens behind the Paper Company. No word from Cyril at all. No one else called. Got a few emails of support. Trusted Ivan wrote again to give me strenght and hope. And of course I called the SGVT and the LA Times to extend the ads.

10/24/04 Sunday
Sick yesterday, couldn't do the search I planned, better later this day. Replaced the old flier at both end of parks with the new one. Saw that some of the other fliers were still up. On Ruddock there are still two up. Even in Azusa behind Jack in the Box. The school took it down as well as the condo complex across the street in Glendora. Saw a bunch of cats, but not the white behind Vons. Saw two of the three kittens again at the Paper Company.

10/25/04 Monday
Email from Tiffany in Covina. Her neighbor thought he saw NoTail on his fence. Have to go and check it out tonight. And I was just in the area last night. Call today from Debbie near Sunflower and Cypress. Her kids have been seeing and calling a cat NoTail during the past 3 months or so, this is close to another sighting long time ago. She called back later and her husband and children reported this cat to have a stub, just as I thought.
At 9:30 I was in Covina to check the sighting from the email. Surveyed the area and layout of all those dead end streets. So safe for cats. Someone was outside across the street and watched me. I didn't want them to think that I have bad intentions cruising around their neighborhood, so I walked up to him and asked him for NoTail. He said, oh it's you looking for NoTail. And he called his wife that the lady that is looking for NoTail is here. They knew all about him but haven't seen him there. They too are on the lookout and Debbie mentioned that she wouldn't take a penny. I sprinkled food next to the curb around the entire little block and waited. Within minutes again a black cat came from a house and ate the food. It had a tail....

10/26/04 Tuesday
On the way to work Jennifer from the Humane Society in Pomona called. My heart jumped expecting the worst, they found NoTail dead. But no, last night they picked up an older black cat, neutered - and - without a tail. But then Jennifer said, he has a quarter inch stub. She didn't know where he was picked up yet. A few minutes later, she called back telling me this cat has half an inch of a stub. I can't believe how close this is. She also said he is very sweet but was very frightened when he was picked up yesterday, skinny and dehydrated. I am very grateful for her call, knowing that I can count on her without having to go to this shelter all the time. Still, could this not have been him? Just when she called I was thinking about NoTail. As I always do, especially since I received word of those two sightings yesterday. Oh dear, why couldn't this be him and I can rest and NoTail too? I am so tired!
Email from Tiffany again, she spoke to the neighbor, he saw the cat without a tail 3 months ago!!!!!!!!!! Oh dear, I don't dare to think that this was NoTail and he got lost even more because one person didn't call me. What a shame.
Irene left a message that she went to Pomona HS on Saturday but didn't see NoTail.
10/28/04 Thursday
Of course I went to Pomona to look at the black neutered 10 year old cat without a tail. And as Jennifer correctly reported, this cat had a half-inch fur covered stub. Of course it was not NoTail. He also had a lot of gray hairs in his black fur, very small paws (NoTail has big paws) and he didn't even look up at me. He was eating. I wished him well and left in tears.

10/29/04 Friday
Why didn't the neighbor call??? What if this was indeed NoTail? Then he surely is lost now for good. Oh, so devastating! What to do? Write another bunch of letters to everyone on that street? I guess this is what I will have to do. And he said this cat had nothing for a tail, very scary.

11/03/04 Wednesday
Caught a cream colored long haired bushy tailed male cat at the office yard. Despite three other cats (fixed of course) he was the one in the trap. Took him to the Long Beach Golden State Humane Society Vet and then took him home overnight.

11/04/04 Thursday
Released the grumpy cream cat at work and he is fine. Yippee, another one fixed! Twelve down – another thousand to go! There are three more cats at the office to be fixed, for now. Next week. I feed them every day since over one year. Who feeds my NoTail?
At the shelter in Baldwin Park was a litter of older kittens running around the middle of the street. I counted 7 cats…
There were no matches during the last 9 days in the DOA records. Terry, the administrative person, told me that her Siamese got lost in Whittier. One year later, someone showed her a dead cat a few houses away. It was her cat…

11/05/04 Saturday
Best Friends has an adoption day at the La Brea Tar Pits Park and I will be there with my fliers. Irene called me yesterday, she lost her dog on April 1 in Walnut. She told me about a man in Covina who’s dog was stolen. But he got it back after paying ransom. And he got on Channel 5 news! Wonder where in Covina that was.

11/06/04 Sunday
Well, we went and passed out our fliers to everyone there. One of the volunteers there ran after me to tell me about the cat without a tail that lives around the Intercommunity Hospital in Covina. And yes, I know that cat, it has been reported to me so many times!

11/10/04 Wednesday
A woman called from Whittier. She reported a black cat with white on chest and paws and a stubby tail…
Went to the Baldwin Park Shelter today. Officer number 91 helped me today. She seemed to have never heard of NoTail!? There were three entries in the DOA list during the last 7 days that could be a match. The officer is now on vacation and I have to wait until Monday to get more info.

11/11/04 Thursday
Someone that lost her dog in a freak accident told me about Laura Lee from KBIG radio station. She was very impressed with Laura and suggested I should get a reading to for NoTail in case he passed on and has something to say to me. Now I generally do not believe in that. But I do have an open mind and desperate situations make for desperate decisions, right?! So far only one communicator scared me with what she said, it appears to be true (it is on the communicator’s page in this website). Laura Lee referred me to an animal communicator, since this is not her specialty. Back to square one. The other one referred to me by the woman that takes care of a cat colony in Covina, never called me back after several attempts to get a reading with her.

11/12/04 Friday
Every day I drive by the Ramona Exit which is the street that turns into Badillo and goes by the Shelter and on to the cross street where NoTail got lost. Tears well up in my eyes every time and I miss him so very much.
11/14/04 Sunday
Drove around for 2 hours, checked all the feline highways, all places I have checked so many times. There was a new cat in the Edna colony and I didn't see the kittens. Saw so many other cats all over the place, just not NoTail. Replaced the flier at the park. There were still fliers up along some streets. And again in tears I drive home.

11/15/04 Monday
I was so discouraged that I thought maybe I should just catch one of the three cats left at the office yard and get them fixed. That would make me feel better, right? So I did! The little tricolor girl came to me right away. I took her home in the carrier. And I left a trap for one of the others.

11/16/04 Tuesday
The gray long haired male was in the trap. But they didn't want to fix both of them at the Long Beach Humane Society Vet Hospital. So I took the tricolor home again. Contacted animal communicator or psychic Jane Brocolo. She was referred to me by Laura Lee from K-BIG yesterday.

11/17/04 Wednesday
Back to the vet to pick up the gray and drop the tricolor. They had a stray already but the lady was so nice to let me take in the girl, since she had been locked up for over 48 hours. That was very nice of her. The gray had a retained testicle and required more intensive surgery, $67. The things I do…
I took the girl home that night and dropped off the gray at the office yard. I hope he will be well!
Had a session with Jane that night. What she said or rather NoTail was so heartbreaking and will be detailed on the Communicators/Psychics page in this website.

11/18/04 Thursday
Baldwin Park Shelter, no matches on the DOA list. Talked to Kelly, the vets assistant. She said that Cyril is here at least once a week and was just here 2 or 3 days ago. So he is still looking too….. I was glad to hear that! Kelly ensured me that her and Victor will call me if they see NoTail and that he would not slip through. I wish we had this surety since the first day we went there.

11/19/04 Friday
An older lady called me today. She was driving on Barranca in the area of Baseline and saw a dead black cat in the road. She said it wasn’t very large. But that was two weeks ago. She couldn't see if the cat had a tail. She had to give up her own cat because the manager doesn't allow pets, inside only and with a $200 payment.

11/20/04 Saturday
Replaced the flier in the park again, the rain had washed it off. It pains me terribly to even drive through this area now. NoTail must be at someone's house!

11/24/04 Wednesday
Mailed a letter to several homes where a sighting was reported. And visited the Baldwin Park Shelter again.

11/29/04 Monday
The rain washed the fliers out again. This time I put them in plastic sleeves and taped them to the posts at both ends of the park and nailed it on the post outside the shelter.

12/01/04 Wednesday
As usual, shelter day, double checked a few records, introduced myself to the new driver and he took a flier saying, no, he wouldn't take the reward and he will look out for NoTail.

12/07/04 Tuesday
At night I was very agitated about NoTail, hurt more than usual and missing him more than the last few days and weeks. It is just so painful to think all those horrible ways he could have died. And my mind makes up new scenarios every day. They are all awful! That night I dreamed about NoTail. For the first time since he disappeared. There may have been a night when I dreamed about him just after he disappeared but I am not sure anymore. But this night I found him trotting on the sidewalk, no one else around, no cars, no people, no alleys, just storefronts. No where to hide. He kept walking on the other side, looked up when I called him but kept walking. I ran towards him and caught him by his belly, had to push him down on the sidewalk to keep him from escaping. He was scared but didn’t struggle too much. He felt solid, not skinny with a little matted fur. I put him in the backseat of my car and drove him home. I was soooooooooooooooooooooo happy!

12/08/04 Wednesday
Then I woke up and realized it was only a dream!!!!!!!
Not a single word from anyone in that block where a cat without a tail was seen. That was very disappointing, not even the people that saw a cat like that. Have to knock on their door in person.
Later that day I received the first phone call since many weeks. I didn’t get the name, but the lady saw my flier still up on the street of the Sonrise School. She reported that there is a black cat without a tail in her neighbors yard. Her neighbor apparently has a lot of cats and dogs and works at the shelter. That is in Covina between Citrus and Barranca, and Cypress and Covina. But then I asked her if the cat has a stub and of course it does, a 2-inch stub! As usual. What can I say? I expected that.
A little later to the shelter for the weekly check on the DOA list. As I drove up, the strays that live outside the shelter already waited for their dinners from the volunteers. Food was already there too and among all those cats was one without a tail, black. The adrenaline shot through my body: there is NoTail. It looked like him, it was dark and I called and of course the cat ran away, I ran after it with a small flashlight that didn’t reach far enough. The cat paused 20 feet from me, turned its head to look at me and then took off deep into this huge property, 200-300 feet towards a large building in the far corner. It was gone and I stood there dumbfounded and not daring to hope too much. After all I couldn’t see for sure if the cat had a stub or not. It definitely didn’t have a normal tail. I didn't see one at all but I also didn't see NoTail's little butt. I told Al, the night supervisor, Juana and David. Al said they would put out traps and call me. They already caught six cats last night. I also told Kelly, the vet’s assistant. She was so excited at the possibility that I would get him back. She put up a flier in the feral cat room.
I also talked to the volunteer Diane that feeds the strays, she has seen this one, but couldn't say since when or how close, and she had talked to Cyril several times before about NoTail. I wonder why she never thought to tell us about this cat???
I was going to hang out there all night but then thought better of it. The cat wouldn’t come out again until the next evening. It was very scared. And it doesn't look very safe there in the dark.

12/09/04 Thursday
Of course there was no call from the shelter that they caught NoTail.
After work I went straight to the shelter again. Spoke to one of the employees of ABC Haul and he wouldn’t let me talk to the owner of the business. He claimed he already told him, but the boss doesn’t care about the reward, he would rather shoot a cat, he hates them. That worried me very much. He also wouldn’t let me look around the property either. So I staked out in my car. The volunteer Diane came and put out food, I had some out too and I waited. And at the same time as last night, the black cat came out. Then I saw, it was limping a bit and it had a 3-inch long tail. The severity of this discovery didn't hit me until I arrived at home. I was devastated! Need I say more? It was so possible that this would be the lost cat from the shelter without a tail at all. There is plenty of food every day and it is fairly safe. It could have been him being brought there by someone in July and he still could have been alive there. Oh dear, I know I will never find him.

12/11/04 Saturday
Went to the park again in the afternoon. Something about that park that keeps me going back to it. Everything is so torn inside the ravine and it looks devastated. All the reeds are down as well as some of the trees. At least the dead cat was no longer there. Later I went to the shelter and waited there for an hour to see if the cat without a tail showed itself again. It didn't. In the meantime I checked on all the other cats in the area. I saw 11 behind the paper company on Edna, only one of the three kittens was still there. I drove all over the place again. Never saw the white cat behind Vons again, nor the black cat that lived in the park. I put up fliers again around the immediate area. Let the people laugh at me, I don't care!
At 3 am I went outside for my last smoke and since the last communicator or psychic I have been saying his name three times when I go outside. So I did that and as I just finished saying his name for the third time, I looked directly at a very big shooting star going from west to east high in the southern sky. What a miracle that would be if this was a message from him either being alive, telling me I am on the right track and not to give up, or him not being alive anymore and wanting me to know he is okay that way….

12/12/04 Sunday
Someone (Diane)e emailed just to give support and wish good luck.
Wanted to talk to the family in Covina, who saw a black cat without a tail. They were not home, so I walked through the park again, the ravine, and looked for a sign of a little black body. And I checked a pump station or clean out for the big storm drain pipes off the sidewalk. It occurred to me that I never checked that thing on Grand Avenue just north of the Rite Aid shopping mall. But there was nothing in there either.

12/13/04 Monday
Went to Covina after work to visit the people that reported a black cat to their neighbor a while ago. This time they were home and I spoke to the husband Victor. Him and his daughter saw a black cat a while ago and it looked like it didn't have a tail at all, although it was dark and they are rather far away. And they saw this cat run with a white cat. Okay, possibly another dead-end here too. That night I sat outside and saw 5 shooting stars, one of them the biggest I ever saw!
12/15/04 Wednesday
8 am call from Diane in El Sereno. She still posts fliers wherever she goes in the Alhambra area for NoTail.
9 am call from Air Suites Hotel in Ontario, lost connection, called back and couldn't find out who called me there. I wonder if that was someone that knows about NoTail??? I hope they call back. – They never did (today is 12/31/04). I wonder what that call was about. I imagined someone taking NoTail out of the country. Crazy thoughts! Oh, I have plenty of them in my head! Went to the shelter and spoke to Kelly, the vets assistant again. I waited outside to see all the strays that the volunteers feed. I didn’t see that cat without a tail.

12/16/04 Thursday
went back to the shelter, put out food and waited. The cat with the 3 inch stub came out, limping too. Not NoTail.

12/17/04 Friday
did I mention that every Friday I call the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and the LA Times to extend the ad yet for another week? And I also composed a big ad for the local papers like the San Gabriel Valley Examiner and the Covina Neighborhood News. See front page.

12/19/04 Sunday
Walked through he park again to find a body. But of course there was nothing. Drove around all the familiar areas and cat colonies. 11 cats now behind the paper company. At least. Did I mention I checked the pump station or whatever that wooden vault is on the west side of Grand Avenue. Nothing in there either.

12/22/04 Wednesday
brought a two big trays of cookies to the shelter. One they left in the managers office and put the flier with NoTail's pics on the wall. In the back, Kelly promised to talk to all the drivers again. Of course I hung around again for a while to see THAT cat again, but didn’t.

12/23/04 Thursday
went to shelter again, they were going to put more traps out, but hadn’t. I waited a while outside that big gate for a NoTail showing…

12/25/04 Saturday
Karen Ruben from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune called at 6 pm wanting to know if I found NoTail. Before I could say anymore than no, she wanted to end the conversation. I guess she was looking for a good xmas or new years story…. And I so had the feeling that Christmas will be the day I will get that call I am waiting for, the miracle will happen…

12/26/04 Sunday
drove around the park and the streets again, saw a few cats, petted a black one north of the school….

12/29/04 Wednesday
shelter again checking the DOA’s, no matches. Which is good in a way of course. Waited and watched for the strays outside the shelter too.

12/30/04 Thursday
I left a message for the person that called re the cat in San Francisco. No call back. At 11 am I received a call from Luis in Covina. He reported the only black cat without a tail that I haven’t seen yet in the area. Calora and Bonnie Cove, it clearly has a stub and that was confirmed by many before. Then Donna called me. Her yellow Manx Bob disappeared from West Covina three weeks ago and she wanted to talk to me to find out if there is something going on with cats without a tail being taken on purpose. I left a message with her husband.
Walked the entire perimeter of the sports field today south of Badillo and east of the shopping center. There was no one there and I called his name into the air… I have this strange feeling, that he is alive. Drove by the shelter again, they were closed, so it was quiet and all the cats came out when I put food on the asphalt. And there was the black cat with a 3 inch stub. She is limping too, I think it is a she. Either she is well fed or pregnant with very small paws. NoTail has big paws.
Clear Channel/KFI Jessica Rosenthal returned my email regarding the sacrificed cat, but didn’t have any more details. So I emailed to the Captain of the LAC Life Guard who's employee found the grisly scene. Of course I have thoughts about that too.
Between yesterday and today someone took the flier in the clear plastic sheeting down from the post at Elton and Ramona to the shelter! Why?
12/31/01 Friday
Talked to Karl, who saw kitten in Northern California and called me on it. He told me that he lost his cat and after two and a half years, he found it again. A miracle. And I guess that is all I have left to hope for, a miracle.

01/03/05 Monday
A guy called and said, I think I found your cat. I was immediately alert for a crank call. He repeated and I asked him what city he is calling from and then he hung up. Of course he never called back. And later denied that he called me and hung up.

01/04/05 Tuesday
Found an article in SGVT about animals in the news in 2004, that mentioned NoTail and me several times, written by Karen Ruben, the reported that called me on Dec 25 and asked if I found NoTail yet. She never even mentioned, that she wrote an article. She never returned my email and message either.

01/05/05 Wednesday
Renewed the ad in SGVT for another 3 weeks.
At the shelter in Baldwin Park, saw the black cat with a 3 inch tail again. That was not NoTail.
Worried about one of the drivers, she doesn't care about anything and unfortunately, she runs the Covina area nearly every day to pick up dead animals. Her descriptions are not complete either.
Talked to a couple that came in to look for their lost cat, a persian/himalayan mix lost since January 1, an outside cat and they fear the neighbor killed it. I asked if they put up fliers, they didnt because they don't have a photo. I told them to do that anyway without photo.
Gave them NoTail's website for flier example and stuff to do to look for their cat. The guy asked me how long my cats been missing, I said 6 months and he almost
laughed in disbelief that I am still looking. Remember what karl said though: never, never, never give up - right!
As I left the shelter I got a call from David in Pomona. He saw a black cat there without tail but was not sure if it had a stub or not. He couldn't give me a phone number since he called from a friends house. I told him to lay out food and wait with a flashlight and he said he would do that and call me back. He did ask if this is my cat then he would get the reward, right? I assured him that indeed he would. Sadly, he never called back.

01/06/05 Thursday
The article in the Long Beach Press Telegram today was very disturbing: Three Mexican men have been arrested, tried and sent to jail for being caught almost in the act of sacrificing a little black kitten by cutting its arms and legs off. What am I to make of that???

01/10/05 Monday
The rain prevents me from looking. There are no cats out now. And I hope they are all safe as can be. The little pits in the park turned into a raging creek, I stopped there Sunday. The San Gabriel River is a raging monster, I hope they all could get to safety!

01/11/05
Send second email to the LA County Life Guard re Ritual Animal Killings.

CaptCan@lacofd.org; KDaniels@lacofd.org.

Dear Captain Can and Kyle Daniels,
I am sorry to bother you again, but I really need this information re the color of the mutilated cat that was found at Cabrillo Beach and if the three Mexican men arrested in Downey in the process of another ritual animal killing are the same people.
Can you please also tell me if the cat had a tail, that was found mutilated at the Cabrillo Beach in what appears to be a ritual killing? It was mentioned that the cat was gray. I lost my cat a while ago, he has no tail at all (pics at www.NoTail.com). It is unlikely that this could be him, it is very far, but since he has an unusual appearance, I need to follow up.
So please take just a moment to forward my mail to the person that found the scene and let me know if this cat had a tail and if it is related to the three captured men in Downey.

Strangely, they never replied to my emails.

01/12/05
Finally met the volunteer Jennifer Bradley at the shelter, she was very nice and happily surprised that I care so much for NoTail. She took a flier and said she will keep it in her car. Shelter had 150 little dogs from a breeder in custody for an investigation.

01/13/05
Today 11 am call from woman if I want a Siamese kitten, she saw my ad in the Whittier daily news for NoTail. Sure, bring them all to me.

01/14/05
A woman called today who didn’t want to identify herself. She just saw a black cat with a little stub behind Food 4 Less at corner of Azusa Avenue and Puente. She saw it from far away but is almost sure that it had a little stub. Drove by that night and posted flier. Saw several cats but none without a tail.
Called the Downey Police Department regarding the animal sacrifice case. They told me to call Detective Gatfield. He filed the case with the DA in the Superior Court in Downey.

01/16/05
Back to the shopping center at Azusa and Puente. Met the woman that feeds the cats there and she said she never saw a black cat without a tail there.

01/18/05
I called Detective Gatfield at the Downey Police Department. He said the Mexicans called on their Miranda rights and didn’t confess to anything. They were well prepared and had all tools for their ritual to murder the little kitten and of course several roosters.

01/19/05
Called Corporal Miller at SEEACA in Downey. He said case might be under investigation and he can't tell me anything. He said, housecats need to be kept inside and never let out. Yeah yeah, what do you know! As far as he knew this was an isolated incident. Hahahaha!
Shelter visit in Baldwin Park like every Wednesday. Lots of dead cat entries to check like every Wednesday… Juana will talk to Anthony and Aguilar, Anthony replaced Frank Medina and Aguilar is a driver. She wasn't sure if they both know about NoTail. I called her the next morning to remind her.

01/20/05
Cyril beeped me on the radio saying "Gabi" it sounded so urgent. The one reason he has to talk to me is if he found NoTail or heard anything about him. But that was not it. My heart jumped, he found NoTail? Someone brought him to him? He found him dead? Someone brought or told him
that NoTail is dead? My heart was racing. But no, it was so trivial. There was an accident on the 605 and I should listen to the news before getting on the freeway… my heart sank and I cried.

01/25/05
A girl called thias evening, she didn’t want to give her name. She saw a cat at San Gabriel and Broadway in San Gabriel, but it has a stump.

01/26/05
Shelter visit as usual. Drove through Covina after that senselessly.

01/31/05
On the way to the dentist, I saw several black cats at a house on Badillo. I turned around, but they went away. Went back there several times until I saw one cat with a tail on 2/12/05.

At 11 am a Mexican guy who introduced himself as Sal after hesitating called today. He said he visited a friend last Monday and saw a cat that had no tail at all in his friends house. He remarked on it as it ran away and his friend said yeah, what do you think of that? They didn’t talk any further about cats. They never do, Sal said. He never wanted to give me his phone number, only the next day after repeatedly asking him for it. I got really excited, I should have known better. He promised to call me back. One hour before the arranged time for him to call me he called to ensue me that he didn't forget about me. and oh, he was so charming and understanding.
We agreed to met him at 6 pm in Rosemead at a Taco Bell. I have to continue this later. This turned out to be quite a coniving guy. So tune back in next week for more.

After a dozen or so calls, asking me if I knew a place for him to work he called back in the afternoon 4 trying to extort money from me before giving me more info on the cat.

Shelter visit again. They were too busy and because of the jerk Ruben or Sal or whatever his name is, I didn’t go last week. Now I had to go through more than two weeks of records. Over 30 animals almost every day. Couldn’t follow up on each entry because they closed. Have to do that next time!

Drove around the area, saw a black cat by the dumpster behind the apartment garages. But it had a tail – of course. With tears in my eyes I canvassed the neighborhood again. Still drive the area about twice a week. I don’t know why? NoTail is NOT out there. NoTail has been taken, I am sure of that now. He was never out there, he never left the patio on his own! I know that now. The possibilities are NOT endless. They are very few!
